This is an exciting thing to do and you do not need any experience in beekeeping.

Adelaide Bee Sanctuary will provide you with the opportunity to host a beehive in your own backyard, to create a more holistic environment with the benefits of pollination.

How does it work?

That way, you increase the produce of your garden and also receive delicious honey.

How does it work?

Firstly, we come and check your backyard for suitability.
We then select a calm beehive from our apiary and will relocate it to your property.
Installing a beehive requires the preparation of the site such as pruning trees or bushes if necessary, creating a water source for the bees and setting the beehive stand.
We take care of the maintenance, which involves hive inspections for checking on the health and activity of the bees as well as performing tests to check for any pests/diseases (normally 4 – 5 times per year).
The maintenance visits will also include collecting the honey frames and the extraction of the honey using a gentle process in our facility to harvest pure raw honey with all the nutrients the bees produce.
You receive up to 4kg of delicious raw honey every harvest depending on weather and season conditions.
You have the opportunity to buy more honey from our shop for a discounted price.

How much does it cost?

The initial setup fee is $200,- and includes the manufacture and installation of an ant-proved beehive stand, relocation of the beehive to your backyard, and educating you and your family about the hundreds of new backyard friends.

The fee for one maintenance visit starts at $70,- and depends on distance to travel (usually 4-5 times per year).
There will be no costs for up to 4kg of delicious raw honey.
